“My name is Jasmine, I am 16 and Hoss is my best friend. Hoss is a 30lb maine coon male cat who was surrendered for recurring health problems. Hoss has been there for me through even the most trying times. Before I had found out something was wrong, he would hide underneath the bed and in my closet. When I would go check on him he would have his own vomit all down the front of him. Hoss would rarely go to the litter box and when he did, his urine was bloody. My mother had taken him to the local Animal ER, I find out he needs a procedure to prevent this from happening over and over again. After paying all the medical expenses including his special prescription food and medication, I find that I cannot afford the surgery, let alone pay for more regular ER visits. If I cannot pay for the surgery I might have to give him up. I am a strong believer in giving an animal a forever home when adopting them. It would shatter my heart if I couldn’t keep that promise to him in his most trying times, when he was there for mine. ”
